Judith (Judy) Salter


Judith (Judy) Salter was appointed to the Commission in 2017 by Governor Brown. She is a past President and SEA of Turtle Bay Exploration Park, a 300 acre educational and cultural complex along the Sacramento River in Redding, California. Ms. Salter graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Political Science and has an extensive professional experience in federal government and non-profit management.

Ms. Salter was the first Administrative Director for Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. She subsequently served as a director of corporate and government relations for three major natural resources companies: Simpson Investment Company, Champion International, and Container Corporation of America. She has also served widely on numerous arts, literacy, social policy, women’s equity, and environmental boards. Most recently she has served as a board member for the California Humanities, the state arm of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Women’s Fund and served as a Mayoral appointment on the City of Redding Community Services Advisory Commission.

She continues to consult with community organizations on fundraising, board development and strategic planning. She and her husband Lee share 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
