SUMMARY:CRB Nexus General Government Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:Join CRB Nexus: Where Policy Meets Research for a live virtual discussion featuring Amanda Clayton\, Zoltan Hajnal\, and Ronnee Schreiber as they discuss General Government in policy and practice on Friday\, May 2 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM!  \nIn support of a vibrant community of practice\, this event will NOT be recorded. See you there! \n\n\nCRB Nexus informed by data-driven research. We come together to connect\, build professional relationships\, and share information. Together we translate evidence into action and foster the next generation of public scholarship aimed at identifying and solving policy issues. \nCome meet like-minded Californians as we build a research to policy community of practice! \nPanelists and Special Guest: \nDr. Amanda Clayton is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at UC Berkeley.  Much of her work focuses on the consequences of women’s political representation. This includes how the adoption of electoral gender quotas shapes the substantive representation of women’s interests in national legislatures and how exposure to women officeholders affects citizen behavior. Her current research examines questions related to gender and climate governance\, including a book project that examines the origins of gender differences in climate attitudes worldwide.    \nDr. Zoltan Hajnal is a professor of political science at UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy and co-director of the Yankelovich Center for Social Science Research. A quantitative social scientist\, he deploys data to help Americans understand how political institutions shape civic participation and promote\, or impede\, responsive governance. His research areas include urban politics\, election timing\, racial and ethnic politics\, immigration and political behavior. \nDr. Ronnee Schreiber is a professor of political science at San Diego State University. Schreiber’s research interests are in the area of women and politics\, particularly women in American political institutions and women and public policy. Schreiber published Righting Feminism: Conservative Women and American Politics with Oxford University Press\, which examines how conservative women at the elite level seek legitimacy as representatives of women’s interests. In addition to her book\, she has published articles that examine women in Congress\, how feminist organizations adapt to conservative political climate\, how conservative women challenge feminist understandings of gender consciousness and how motherhood and ideology interact in political contexts.  \n  \nOur special policy guest is Darcy Totten\, Executive Director of the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. \n\n\n  \n
