Katherine Squire

Legislative Analyst

Katherine Squire joined the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls in 2024 as a legislative analyst. Katherine holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and is a proud first-generation Latina from Stockton. Most recently, Katherine worked as a legislative aide to State Senator Anthony Portantino. In this role, she was responsible for carrying a portion of the member’s legislative package, analyzing bills, as well as providing vote recommendations. Katherine also served as a board member of the Student Senate for California Community Colleges, where she previously advocated for policies promoting education access. Throughout these experiences, Katherine has developed a deep passion for public service and, in particular, uplifting those of underrepresented backgrounds.
