Women’s Recovery Response Equal Pay Day Press Conference
On Equal Pay Day, the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls held a press conference with First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Commissioners, and Grantees to announce the recipients of the Women’s Recovery Response grant program to support women and girls who have been affected economically by the ongoing pandemic.

The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls thanks everyone who submitted grant applications for its 2022 CCSWG Women’s Recovery Response Grant Funding Opportunity. The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is so inspired by the incredible response to our first-of-its-kind grant funding opportunity to support women impacted by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Commission evaluated more than 630 proposals to support women and girls across all five funding categories, totaling over $62 million in requests.

Today, March 15, 2022, on Equal Pay Day, the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls (CCSWG) announced the recipients of a $5 million grant program to fund organizations serving women and girls who have been disproportionately affected economically by the ongoing pandemic. Grantees include organizations serving low-income, unemployed, or underemployed, AIAN, BIPOC, LGBTQIA, unhoused, rural, disabled, senior, and veteran populations.
Grants were awarded in five areas to direct service providers, local women’s commissions, and government entities seeking to establish and expand local women’s commissions, and nonprofits serving primarily women and girls. Learn More
$5 Million in State Grant Funds Now Available to Provide Local Assistance for Women’s Economic Recovery
The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls Launches a First-of-its-Kind Grant Funding Opportunity Dedicated to Women’s Pandemic Recovery Response
The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is accepting grant applications from local women’s commissions, local government entities for the purpose of establishing new women’s commissions, and nonprofits serving women and girls for its 2022 Women’s Recovery Response effort. The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is honored to announce that the state budget includes additional one-time funding of 7.9 million dollars, 5 million of which will be utilized to facilitate a statewide Women’s Recovery Response in the wake of COVID-19.

The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is honored to oversee the Women’s Recovery Response Program, funded by a one-time budget allocation of $7.9 million dollars which will be utilized to facilitate a statewide women and girls centered response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Commission thanks the Governor and the California Legislature, Budget staff and Chairs Senator Nancy Skinner and Assemblymember Phil Ting, and especially, Women’s Caucus Chair Assemblymember Christina Garcia, for their commitment to California’s women and girls.
