Item 4 – YAC Girls Agenda and Updates
Legislative Analyst Katherine Squire updated the council on distribution and communications on the Girls Agenda and recent councilmember Sriya’s participation in a podcast discussing the agenda with California’s Miss Petite Teen.
Item 5 – CCSWG Legislative Package and Discussion of Youth Bills
Councilmembers engaged in discussion regarding which youth bills provided that were introduced this legislative session should be recommended youth priority bills to the full Commission when they consider the legislative package. The council identified four bills to be recommended that align with the education, health, and safety recommendations outlined in the 2026 Girls Agenda, including AB 2660 (Alvarez), AB 1792 (Rodriguez), AB 1540 (Gonzalez), and AB 1700 (Lowenthal). The council discussed that these bills align with the agenda in addressing access to STEM pathways, education on dating abuse and digital safety, and access to mental health resources.
Item 6 – Announcements
Girls in Technology Event – May12, 2026
Legislative Analyst Katherine Squire updated the council that members Audrey and Eucharistia will be filling leadership roles for the upcoming girls in technology event and shared that the event will also be open to all YAC members.
YAC Representative for Full Commission Meeting
The council discussed that Commission staff will present the YAC update at the next full Commission meeting.
